As you may have guessed already, I am the kind of person who has several things going at once. I’ll watch a TV show and do a sudoku or check and answer my email. I might work on an estimate and design a piece of decoration. I’ve always got a book on the hob. Right now I’m reading THE ARCHEOLOGY OF THE ANTLANTIC NORTHEAST. It purports to lay out the current level of scholarship on the peoples of the area from Maine to Labrador along the Atlantic Ocean starting 13,000 years ago and going to contact with Europeans in the 15th, 16th, and 17th centuries. My next read is a mystery novel by Ann Cleeves centering on Shetland. After that, I have gotten some books from a furniture maker who is going out of business pretty much and will start one of those.
That’s me; always In a whirl. What you see today is a table top for a wine barrel that will be used in a wine bar in Winchester. I am also working on a coffee table for the Old Opera House in Charles Town. I hope to have a picture of it for next week’s newsletter.
I’ve never bothered to ask why this kind of life makes me happy. It seems to drive the people around me to distraction. Still they bear me with good grace.
Come to see Bourgeois Furniture at Berkeley Art Works in Martinsburg, WV and Bent River Trading Post in Capon Bridge, WV. I shall also be participating in a display at the Old Opera House this coming weekend and next weekend.
